Schoppensteele

In 2017 startte journalist Ad Hanneman en ik het z.g. Westkapelle Project. Ad woonde al een tijdje in het dijkdorp en had er een aantal gedichten over geschreven. In 2018 zou Muziekvereniging OKK haar 110de jubileum vieren en wij vatten het plan op om de door mij geschreven muziek dan uit te laten voeren. Ik benaderde Rudy de Queljoe die op een zondagochtend naar Westkapelle het huis van Jan Kaland en zijn vrouw kwam om het plan te bespreken met Cora Knuijt-Dellebeke, de dirigente van de brassband. Ik had al een aantal songs geschreven en in mijn studio opgenomen en liet er enkele van horen. Ik sprak af met Cora dat ik haar mp3-tjes van de nummer zou opsturen. 

Uiteindelijk besloot Muziekvereniging OKK (Oefening Kweekt Kunst ) hier niet verder op in te gaan en bleven mijn songs op de plank liggen, totdat ik in de wintermaanden mijn archieven doornam en zag dat het hele Westkapelle Project nog in tact was. Ik begon het liedje "21 December" in Finale (muzieknotatie programma) te bewerken en verkreeg aldus een instrumentale versie. Daarna volgde "Gelukkig Door De Wind" en nu dus "Schoppensteele" die Ad de reactie onlokte: "Doet me denken aan laat middeleeuwse Italiaanse muziek. Oordeelt U zelf!

 De Schoppesteele (a veces escrito como Schoppensteele) es un monumento artístico y de guerra situado en la Zeedijk (dique) de Westkapelle, en la provincia de Zelanda, Países Bajos.
